“Twisting the Routine Things”
In this exhibition I respond the functional things in our daily life (routine) by reorganizing the functions and uses (twisting). For instance, I pile the cups in four. I have them glazed with high temperature burning, making the cups stick to one another.
The pile of cups tell us the unsatisfied wills of human. In the other work, there are three containers in bowl shape that contains the pile of keys. It is a large pile of keys that the bowls are made broken to show how they are not strong enough to hold the keys within.
I also arranged some plates, ordered by the drawn plot on them, where there are not so clear visualization of women figures for the surfaces are covered in glaze. Those figures are vague in purpose to show the cracked-effects of the plates. The plot itself tells a story of achieving wills.
Then there are three big spoons similar to ladles that are usually used to cook with imperfect handles. I will also display a row of broken glasses and cups that hung on the wall. On several surface will be written some poems by a West Java poet, Acep Zam Zam Noor, on the complexity of life and conflicts of human.
Thus, the artworks displayed at this Via Via Cafe are basically simple things from everyday objects. The objects that are so intimate with our needs as containers to eat or drink from. I chose these shapes of my ceramic works to adapt them with Via Via Cafe atmosphere.
